Chronic Kidney Disease-How healthy are your kidneys?
Did you know that gradual kidney decline happens at least 30 years before diagnosis by your Medical Doctor? Your kidneys are responsible for excreting toxins from your body and as such your Glomerular Filtration Rate needs to be above 90 until you are 90 years old.
A study of adults with normal kidney function, revealed decline in kidney function was significantly slower in those with higher (3 litres of water per day) versus lower urine volumes.
The fastest rate of decline was observed for those with the smallest urine volumes (less than 1 Litre/day). Those with the largest urine volumes (greater than 3 Litres per day) were least likely to demonstrate mild-to-moderate kidney decline or rapid kidney decline.
