Finding time to eat as a family unit is important to improve or maintain the family bond and holds significant benefits to your health and quality of life.
Children who ate dinner together with their family 5 or more times a week were found to be less likely to suffer from obesity as well as mental disorders.
Teens who partake in family dinners 5-7 per week were less likely to engage in risky behaviours & get into trouble. Teenagers who were not partaking in frequent family dinners had double the likelihood of smoking cigarettes and using alcohol and a 1.5 greater likelihood of having used marijuana.
Children who have family meals 3 or more times a week are more likely to eat healthily and less likely to eat unhealthy meals. They are also less likely to develop eating disorders.
