Fish Oil and the Immune System
Clinical studies have demonstrated that the quality of the gut microbiome can influence the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy.
Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated that long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids found in fish oils, can modulate inflammatory and immune responses, and regulate the quality and quantity of the bacteria in the gut.
It is proposed that long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids can be used to modulate both the microbiome and the inflammatory processes involved in immunosuppression, and improve the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies. In light of this, fish oil can be used to improve the quality and quantity of the bacteria in all immune imbalance.
