Tips for Improved Dental Health
My annual check up at the dentist started me thinking about how I can strengthen my gums and teeth for the future. Besides flossing twice a day and brushing after each meal, there are a few other things you need to do, as poor diet is the primary cause of dental decay.
A study of indigenous tribes with good teeth and low amounts of disease found the following similarities:
– Diet of fermented foods and raw dairy
– Large amounts of raw organic food and locally grown seasonal food containing no sugar
– All of the cultures ate animal products, including animal fat, full-fat butter and organ meats
Tips for improved dental heath
- Avoid fluoridated water and fluoridated toothpaste.
- Minimize your sugar and grain consumption and avoid processed foods.
- Increase consumption of fresh vegetables, fermented foods and high-quality animal-based omega-3 fats.
- Brush after each meal and floss twice a day.
- Consider oil pulling with coconut oil, which is a powerful inhibitor of a large variety of pathogenic organisms.
- If you have sleep apnoea or awake with a sore face, invest in a mouth guard.
