Exercise increases biodiversity of gut bacteria.  Cardiovascular fitness is linked to rich diversity of gut bacteria.  Exercise also decreases inflammation and cortisol production. Cortisol collapses the biodiversity of the gut bacteria.  The more diverse your gut bacteria the less chance you have of irritable bowel disease.  Also  exercise outside improves vitamin D levels, which also decreased Irritable Bowel Disease.
