I often hear people say, I wake up at night and need to go to the toilet and then I cannot get back to sleep because I am thinking about things. This is not normal. First of all, you should not need to get up in the night to go to the toilet. Second, you should be able to go straight back to sleep.

If you are waking in the night, it means your circadian rhythm is out and your cortisol is peaking at the wrong time of the day.

Reasons why you are waking in the night:

  • Blood sugar too high, which raises cortisol levels & suppresses Melatonin
  • Too much light in your bedroom
  • Sleep Apnoea
  • Blood too acidic
  • Body Temperature too high, due to hypothalamus thermostat blowing a fuse.

Improve your sleep

  • Practitioner prescribed supplements to cool and relax the body
  • Alkalizing supplements
  • 6 handfuls of vegetables a day
  • Black out your room
  • Do not use mobile phones in the bedroom
  • If you wake in the night, do not use a light
